The 512C is a discrete mic/line pre with 65 db of gain, front and back panel mic input access, and a line/instrument preamp with 50db of gain.Website: API Mic Preamp
Chandler Limited:
The Germanium 500 preamp/DI uses classic Germanium transistors in all class A, transformer balanced circuits. Front panel controls include input gain, feedback drive, pad and phantom power. The DI input jack is also on the front panel.Website: Chandler Limited Mic Preamp
Great River:
The MP-500NV is a professional mic pre designed to recreate the vintage sound characteristics of the early 1970's large consoles. Metering before and after the major gain stages allow the user to drive it hard to greatly expand the range of sonic options.Website: Great River Mic Preamp
A Designs:
A Designs offers five new mic pre's for the 500 series. Chose from the P-1, the EM Silver, the EM Gold, the EM Red, and the EM Blue.Website: A Designs
VintageDesign:
The Vintagedesign M581 is designed to fit an API 500-style lunchbox or rack. They have developed a new output transformer designed to fit the narrower, 1.5-inch frame of a 500-series module. The M581 includes both front and rear XLR inputs. The front XLR connector automatically overrides the rear connector when in use. So when you wish to use the front XLR, you don’t need to bother with disconnecting the rear XLR. You can have the rear connector plugged in continuously. Website: VintageDesign
LaChapell Audio:
The Model 583s is the world’s first vacuum tube preamplifiers designed for 500 series frames and is based on our popular 992EG platform. The input stage is a traditional single-ended type utilizing a 1:10 microphone input transformer along with one ECC83/12AX7 vacuum tube. The output stage utilizes premium Burr-Brown and THAT Corporation balanced line drivers.

Buzz Audio:
The Elixir preamplifier module has been designed to provide exceptionally low noise wide bandwidth amplification of microphone and instrument signals. The Elixir will suit those who desire a recording preamplifier where just a slight amount of bass colour is added to the original signal whilst retaining full treble extension and a smooth midrange.Website: Buzz Audio
Alternate Soundings (al.so):
A dual mic pre in only one slot with up to 60dB of clean low distortion gain. It can also be used as a line preamp.
Features Sowter input transformers
Analog Audio Works:
The Audio Throttle was designed to run in series with another mic preamp and provide either up to 18db of clean gain in one direction or a 6 or 12 db pad in the other direction. This would allow you to use some of the lower gain 500 series preamps (or any other preamp for that matter) on quieter sources and still get a proper signal level. It would also allow you to pad down the output of a hot preamp.Website: Analog Audio Works
Avedis Audio:
The MA5 is a standard single-ended Class A pre amplifier. UK made Carnhill/St Ives input transformers are used, along with custom designed Jensen output transformers. There is a stepped gain rotary switch in 5dB steps.Website: Avedis Audio
Burl Audio:
The B1 mic preamp/DI features
BURL custom BX3 input transformers and
BX2 output transformers, a
discrete, class-A, direct-coupled, capacitor free circuit path,
stepped gain control,
independent output level control,
70 dB gain,
impedance select, and a
1/4” front panel DI input.

JLM Audio:
Dual99v500 mic pre uses two discrete 99v opamps as a 2 stage gain path to provide 75dB of gain with ease. It is aimed at getting big but realistic vocals and acoustic instruments. The TG500 mic pre is a 2 FET 6 transistor Class A design giving 75dB of gain. It is based on early NEVE, BBC, EMI gear simple transistor gain stages fully redesigned to include extra useful features and to run on API+/-16v rails.Website: JLM Audio
Roll Music Systems:
The Tubule is a real transformer-coupled tube mike preamp, getting all its amplification from a standard dual triode tube. Features include switches for -20dB input pad, polarity inversion, and phantom power, a 12-position gain control switch that ranges from 33 to 66dB in 3dB steps, and a continuously-variable input attenuator that ranges from 0 to -10dB for very accurate gain settings that can be easily recalled. VSI Audio:
The MX-1 is an API™ 500 Series compatible discrete microphone preamplifier providing stepped control over input attenuation and true level control.
The MX-1 has two Hi-Pass Filter settings; 70Hz, 40Hz. Middle position on the switch is for 'off'. Other features include 48v Phantom Power, selectable transparent -10db and -20db pad, a phase reversal switch, and a proprietary high gain switch for more output level.
