Yamaha acoustic guitars come in three main series'. The F Series is designed for the student, or first time, guitar buyer. Within the F Series of Yamaha guitars is both a dreadnought and a smaller size style for beginners. The FD01S is slightly more advanced with a solid top. The FG Series is claimed to be the number one selling acoustic guitar of all time. Within the FG Series of guitars are over six different models to choose from, varying in size from small to large. The L Series of Yamaha acoustic guitars is their top of the line selection of a dozen different models, from small sized guitars to jumbo sizes. Each guitar is hand crafted using the finest materials.

Yamaha's acoustic/electric guitars are designed for stage use or in-home use with an amplifier. Seven different series of guitars are available to choose from. The APX Series puts emphasis on playability. The FGX/FJX Series is Yamaha's most recent series. The LX Series brings together art and craftsmanship. The NTX Series is a contemporary design. The CPX Series is a collection of full bodied guitars. The FX Series is Yamaha's number one best seller of acoustic/electrics. The NCX Series offers many of the characteristics of classical guitars.

Yamaha classical guitars, or nylon stringed guitars, come in six different Series'. The C Series is for beginners with an affordable price. The CGS Series is also for beginners but is of a little better quality than the C Series of guitars. The NCX Series is a professional level classical guitar with built-in electronics for live stage playing. The CG Series is designed to deliver top level sound, performance and playability. The GC Series is Yamaha's top of the line classical guitar. The NTX Series is of a contemporary design with a narrower neck joined at the 14th fret. It also incorporates electronics for playing live on stage.

Yamaha builds four models of electric guitars. The Archtops are hollow bodied guitars mainly used for jazz and blues playing. The SBG Series are individually handcrafted in Japan and feature a double cutaway. The Pacifica comes in either a traditional double cutaway or a "stratocaster" type body style. The Signature is a single cutaway style that comes in various models to emulate a "Les Paul" style or a "Telecaster" style guitar.

Yamaha builds four different electric bass series'. The BB Series is Yamaha's workhorse model of basses. Players like Nathan East and Lee Sklar endorse them. The Signature Series is a classic design, the RBX Series is a progressive design, and the TRB Series uses top grade woods for beauty in its design.
