Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphones

  • Gefell (Microtech Gefell)

    The M-295 features a cardioid pickup pattern and has a rich tone that makes it well suited for acoustic instruments. It employs a metal diaphragm. The M-296 is good for everything from bluegrass to orchestral work. It features an omni-directional pickup pattern and a nickel diaphragm. The M-300 small diaphragm FET condenser can be used for drum overheads and loud guitar amps.

  • DPA Microphones

    DPA's legendary line of small diaphragm condensers (sdc's) includes the the omnidirectional 4006, which offers precise, detailed and natural reproduction. The 4006-TL is a transformer-less version of the 4006. The 4011-TL cardioid microphone is a new upgraded version of the classic DPA 4011. The cardioid pick-up pattern gives superb separation between sound sources while spot-miking on every kind of live music.
  • Schoeps

    Schoeps offers a full line of sdc's, including the CMC6 mic preamplifier with several different capsules to choose from. Capsule options unclude cardioid, subcardioid, supercardioid, figure 8 (bi-directional), and omnidirectional. Schoeps also offers many miniature microphone varieties to suit just about any miking situation one might encounter in live or studio applications.
  • Josephson Engineering

    The Josephson e22S side-address cardioid was designed to meet the needs of noted recording engineer Steve Albini. The physical profile allows unobtrusive placement, even with tight percussion layouts. Unique among studio condenser microphones, the e22S capsule geometry is optimized for spot miking performance. The C42 is an all-purpose cardioid condenser microphone suitable for multiple recording applications, including spot miking acoustic and amplified instruments, drums and drum overheads, ensemble and choir pickups, concert recording, sound effects and vocals.
  • Telefunken USA

    The Ela M 260 small diaphragm condenser features a New Old Stock Telefunken EF-732 tube and a custom wound transformer from AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk. It comes complete with a set of three interchangeable capsules (cardioid, hyper-cardioid and omni) as well as an adaptor to allow the use of most AKG CK series capsules along with other capsules made by Red / B.L.U.E. and JZ / Violet.
  • Neumann

    The KM 183 omnidirectional and KM 185 hypercardioid microphones are based on the tremendously successful KM 184 cardioid microphone, which has become a standard within the studio community. All "Series 180" microphones are available with either matte black or nickel finish.
  • Earthworks

    Manufacturer of High Definition microphones. All Earthworks microphones with extended frequency responses to 25 kHz and above meet these criteria of a High Definition Microphone. Even the 20 kHz models meet all these criteria with a frequency response out to 20 kHz.
  • AKG

    Using an extremely light diaphragm, the new C 451 B is almost totally insensitive to handling noise. Other features include an all-metal body for excellent protection from RF interference and high reliability for excellent results under almost all conditions.

    The C 451 B is an excellent tool for accurately capturing signals rich in transients such as drums, instruments with a percussive sound, acoustic guitar, or for overhead miking.

  • Shure

    The Shure SM81 is a high-quality, unidirectional condenser microphone designed for studio recording, broadcasting, and sound reinforcement. The KSM141 is a large diaphragm end-addressed condenser microphone with a rotating collar allowing easy switching between a highly consistent cardioid or true omnidirectional polar pattern. The KSM137 is an end-address condenser microphone with a single cardioid polar pattern.

    The AT3031, a low-profile cardioid condenser microphone from Audio-Technica’s renowned 30 Series, is known for a flat, extended frequency response, high maximum SPL and wide dynamic range. The AT4041 premium electret condenser microphone is engineered to meet the most critical acoustic requirements of professional recording, broadcast and live sound.

  • Mojave Audio

    The MA-100 is a small diaphragm, vacuum tube condenser microphone with interchangeable cardioid and omnidirectional capsules.   • Pearl Microphones

    Pearl's small diaphragm condensers are available with either cardioid or omni patterns with sensitivities of 80 or 12 mV/Pa. The outputs are transfomerless and low noise. These microphones are useful in many sound environments. The high level model is suitable for working at long distances from the sound source, such a ambience and audience reaction. The low level model is more suitable for PA use or for choirs and drumkits.

    The MKH50 is a pressure gradient microphone with super-cardioid pick-up pattern, featuring high rejection of lateral sounds, constant directionality over the whole frequency range, exceptionally low inherent self-noise, and high sensitivity. The MKH30 offers a figure 8 pick-up pattern, a highly symmetrical and frequency-independent pick-up pattern, a wide, flat frequency response, switchable roll-off filter to compensate for proximity effects at a distance of approx. 0.5 m, and switchable pre-attenuation.
