UK Acoustic Guitar Luthiers

  • NK Forster Guitars

    NK Forster offers eight models of acoustic guitar, plus experimental models, a bouzouki and mandolins built in the UK. The Model "A" is a parlor style. The Model "C" has a 12, 13 or 14 fret option, the Model "D" is a dreadnought, and the Model "J" is designed with DADGAD in mind. The Model "S" is a more affordable acoustic model. The Model "F" is roughly the same size as a Martin 0-18.

    Benjamin Guitars makes a variety of acoustic guitar models, including a Jumbo, Baritone models, a Treble-O 12 fret, a Double-O 14 fret, a Jumbo Orchestra model, Classical nylon string models, an OM acoustic, high tuned Terz instruments, and custom builds. Options include pick-ups for acoustic electric players, 12 string models, many wood choices, cutaways, etc.

  • Richard Meyrick Guitars

    Richard Meyrick builds hand crafted acoustic guitars in the UK. He offers four models to choose from; the Manorbier Archtop, the Oxwich Parlor guitar, the Cilgerran 000 size, and the Carningli dreadnaught model. The necks on all of Richard's models feature a bolt-on neck for easy removal in case of damage. The Oxwich parlor is based on a late 19th centruy design by Lyon & Healy. The Cilgerran 000 is based on a 1920's Martin 000. The Carningli is a 14 fret Martin dreadnaught design.

  • Stefan Sobell Musical Instruments

    Stefan Sobell spent many years building archtop guitars and citterns, building his first flattop instrument in the 80's. Stefan's acoustic models are unusual in that the soundboards are slightly curved. Also, the neck continues into the body rather than being glued or bolted onto it. He usually has three or four acoustic guitars under construction at any time, each at a different stage.

    Stephen Sedgwick makes fine acoustic steel string and classical nylon string guitars in the UK. Stephen specializes in harp guitars. Unique instruments offered include a double neck guitar and mandolin, a "Talking Board Guitar", and a Pythagoras Guitar. Standard models come in concert, dreadnought, jumbo and standard sizes. Mandolins come in 12 string models.

    Northworthy offers over 10 acoustic guitar models to choose from, all built in the UK. Models include one guitar that is a slightly smaller in size than a classical guitar, another model slightly larger across the lower bout and a little longer in the body, a traditional dreadnought body, a dreadnought style with a unique body shape, and a 000 design. Left handed versions of all instruments are available at no extra cost. A variety of pickup systems are also available for acoustic electric needs.

    Arum Devereux, of Accousti Guitars in the UK, hand builds fine acoustic instruments. One example is a Flamed Maple 6 string guitar with a Spruce top. This model is based on the Gibson Jumbo but is slightly smaller and thinner. An example of a 12 string instrument is one Arum made of Marbled Ebony and spruce. This is also based on the same Gibson model as the first example.

    Kif makes a range of guitars that include acoustic 6 string, semi acoustic 12 string and acoustic bass models. The 12 string and bass use a 2.7mm laminate top. The 6 string model uses Sitka spruce from Canada. Western red cedar and Alaskan cypress are an option when choosing soundboard woods. All instruments are fitted with twin Piezo contact pickups bonded inside the guitar under the bridge plate for acoustic electric needs.
